This summer will see the Fenn Cup Downwind Series back again on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The series will include 3 races:
- Fenn Cup 1: Saturday 18th September, 2010
- Fenn Cup 2: Saturday 16th October, 2010
- Fenn Cup 3: Saturday 15th January 2011
There are 2 courses for competitors to choose from. The Fenn Cup 18km and the Coastal Dash 9.5km race. All races will be downwind with an afternoon start. Competitors will be informed of the direction and starting point the morning of the event. The series is open to every type of paddle craft including ocean racing skis, SLSA surf skis, doubles, paddleboards, OC1s, OC2s and SUPs.
Fenn Cup 18km Course The Fenn Cup is designed to give the ocean paddler the ultimate downwind race. Courses will run North from Fishermans to Palm Beach in South Winds and South from Palm Beach to Long Reef in North winds. Start is expected to be 2pm but will be delayed up to 1 hour to catch an afternoon sea breeze. Click here for course maps. Coastal Dash 9.5 km Course The Coastal Dash will feature a range of paddle craft. This event is designed to give the SUPs and paddleboards a solid hour long race for the front runners while providing intermediate ski and outrigger paddlers with a competitive shorter downwind course. This race will always start at Mona Vale Basin approximately 20 minutes after the Fenn Cup starts. Note In the case of big surf this course may be moved to Fishermans Beach.
